History of International STEM Journal (ISJ)
The International STEM Journal (ISJ), published by the Centre for Foundation Studies in Science (PASUM) at Universiti Malaya in collaboration with the Universiti Malaya STEM Centre (UMSTEM) and the National STEM Association (NSA) of Malaysia, was launched to support the nation’s goal of promoting interest in STEM disciplines and developing a skilled workforce. The Centre for Foundation Studies in Science (PASUM) is a prominent foundation studies in Malaysia that offers programs primarily focused on STEM disciplines. The National STEM Association (NSA), established in 2018, brings together members from various educational institutions and STEM industries nationwide. Meanwhile, UMSTEM is a centre in Universiti Malaya dedicated to STEM education activities, encouraging students from preschool to higher education levels to engage in STEM learning. With STEM as the core focus, collaboration among these three entities has facilitated numerous initiatives, including the annual National STEM Seminar (NSS), first held in August 2018. Recognizing the importance of a platform to share STEM research and developments internationally, the International STEM Journal (ISJ) was launched to disseminate knowledge within the global STEM community. The journal’s inaugural issue was published in December 2020, and it has since released two issues annually.
