Effects of Leadership Style of School Principal on Teachers’s Work Commitments
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to observe teachers’ perception towards two dimensions of principal’s leadership style: job orientation leadership and humanistic orientation leadership. The study was carried by using the “Leadership Behaviour Description” and the “Organizational Commitment” questionaires. This survey involved 80 respondents from a secondary school in Klang. Description statistics mean, mode, standard deviation and inferential statistiucs such as Spearman rho, Mann Whitney U and kruskal-Wallis H tests were used to analyse the data. Results indicate that there was a significant and positive correlation between the principal’s leadership style and teachers’ work commitment. However, no significant relationship was found between teacher’s work commitment and gender.
