Abstract

The Sunzi Bingfa emphasises that military affair is a matter concerning a country's survival or perdition. It is inevitable to have a proper strategic planning if one wants to succeed in any commercial competition. Therefore, the connection between military affaur and commercial strategy has gained much attention in the academic circle. Zuo-Zhuan records many battles as well as warring strategies applied during the Chun-Qui period, which in turn have become the primary sources of the Sunzi Bingfa. On the other hand, the Shiji also deems that victory and defeat depend heavily upon military strategy. This article aims to screen out some pivotal strategies recorded in these two classics in order to analyse the true application of proper strategy, sound judgment, circumstantial adjustment as well as orderly masterdom. Cases discussed in this article not only will show the importance of these strategies, they will certainly serve as useable references in corporate planning and management.
