Abstract
Volunteerism is a critical value that should be present in the younger generation, such as university students. The empowerment of this group is necessary for the formation of a good and positive identity. Moreover, volunteerism is an effective medium for the holistic development of the students. This research aims to study the benefits of involvement in volunteerism towards students' skills and social development. A self-report survey was conducted among members of the "Kelab Penyayang" society of UiTM Shah Alam. The finding shows that all skills and social development items indicate a high level, reflecting that students' most effective skills after being involved in volunteer activities are strong teamwork and adaptability. Meanwhile, in terms of social development, involvement in volunteer activities is not only able to hinder them from being entangled in unhealthy endeavours, but it can also increase their commitment and sense of responsibility to contribute to the community. The results are a valuable indicator, especially for the management of universities in structuring volunteer programmes that can provide optimum benefits to students.
