Abstract
This study was conducted to examine the Malay language learning strategies used in the classroom, outside the classroom and during examinations by students of Southeast Asian Studies, Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany. The data were collected through a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of this study revealed that students used a variety of language learning strategies in the classroom compared to outside of the classroom and during examinations. This study may help students and teachers to diversify strategies to improve Malay language acquisition among foreign students.
